LSM Analytical Services customers speak out
The LSM laboratory recently carried out a web based customer satisfaction survey. Customers were asked what were the most important factors in using analytical services, how LSM were doing, and whether an improved service was being provided.
Dr Paul Cooper, LSMs Laboratory and Q.A. Manager says: “ Following changes in management in mid 2006 it was important to establish how well the laboratory was now serving its customers. It was very pleasing to note that a high level of satisfaction exists, and that an improvement had been seen in all factors of customer service. The most important factor for our customers is document accuracy. The strong quality management system at LSM is a key to the achievement of an excellent performance in this category. The key for the laboratory now is to maintain and build on this good position.”
LSMs new ICP expands its analytical services
LSM continued its programme of investment in state of the art technology with its recent purchase of new ICP equipment.
Stuart Thistlethwaite, LSM Operations Director says: “The laboratory is a key part of the operation of LSM and is well served by what is probably a unique range of diverse analytical equipment. However, based on the customer satisfaction survey and by talking to our customers it was clear that LSMs next equipment purchase should be in up to date ICP equipment, capable of very low detection limits. We have now done this and the laboratory has completed an extensive development programme to maximise our ICP capabilities. ”
LSM ANALYTICAL SERVICES FOR THE REFRACTORY AND MINERAL INDUSTRY
LSM Analytical Services has a long history as the supplier of choice for the analytical requirements of the refractorys industry. The Laboratory team are all members of the Institute of Refractories and attend and have involvement with the annual meetings and the bi monthly journal.
Regularly attend GIFA exhibition to meet with current and potential customers within the refractory industry.
The laboratory also subscribes to the Industrial Minerals monthly journal and has regularly attended their conferences to keep up to date with changes within the mineral industry. Most recently MagMin 2007 in Istanbul and IndMin 2008 in Athens.
LSM Analytical Services are members of BMTA (British Measurement and Testing Association) to enable us to share general information to enable us to be proactive and reactive within a changing service industry.
LSM LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE FOR ANALYTICAL SERVICES
In order to provide an even better service to its customers LSM launched its dedicated analytical services website in 2007. The website provides a useful summary of the analytical and technical services provided.
Helen Speakman, laboratory business manager says: “The laboratory has seen rapid growth in recent times on the back of a reputation for a cost effective rapid accurate service. In addition our customer service is recognised as a key strength and the laboratory decided to enhance this further by introducing a user friendly website to allow customers rapid access to the information required for their needs.”
LSM CONTINUES TO BE CHOSEN TO ANALYSE REFERENCE MATERIALS
LSM's established reputation in analytical services continues to be enhanced through its involvement in the analysis and eventual certification of international reference standards. Paul Hurditch, chief chemist says: “The LSM laboratory is continuously being asked to participate in the generation of certification of reference standards. Indeed a very detailed and lengthy exercise was recently completed for a well known standards manufacturer. Our established name and reputation are enhanced by taking part in these studies, and it helps the laboratory to focus on maintaining the high levels of accuracy our customers have come to expect as the norm from us.”
